Thesis Project

As Thesis project for the industrial design
career, I have not just to develop design and
build a product, I have also to develop a
brand, and depending the project, virtually
and for real a company, company that could
least as long as the thesis project is evaluated,
to die with the graduation of the student, or to
be a success, beyond the thesis project final evaluation, becoming a tool for the new proffesional designer, to succeed in the life with his own biz.I Belive on the second alternative, because extreme mountainbiking is a phenomenon that is growing exponentially every single year in the whole world. In Chile exist just one brand that has own designs and handmade production, but is orientated to the lower budget riders. Although I think this producer is like the Robin Hood of bike brands in Chile cuz gives the poor frames with caracteristics that let poor riders to practice Downhill with dignity, I think that in the region (and I mean all latin America) the local Handmade artesanal frames are less preciated by Riders.Come on! Most of the best products in the market are handmade, as Ferrari, Harley Davidson, Rolls Royce etc. Of course in some processes are used last generation technologies.That is what I want to do for my thesis project, in a first stage develop, and to be the first one in latin America to develop a HI-TECH DH frame, with features improved also by first time in the region, such as dual-chain transmission, to eliminate the pedaling-suspension interference, and the protection of all the vulnerable transmission system, all without using an expensive and heavier g-boxx system. In the Marketing aspect, the Frames will have a Brand, that will Be NORLAND CYCLES and this brand will have initially two strategic Markets. In one Hand to be solidary with the Chilean elite riders, that are not sponsored yet, making frames not as cheap as the existent chilean brand, but affordable for the private racer.In the other hand The European and North American Market, that gave me the inspiration to call my brand Norland, where are riders with bigger Budgets that will can afford a more expensive but specific taylor made Frame. In Fact the whole Project has Been seen already by a German DH club with Headquarters in Berlin ( http://www.downhillberlin.de/ ) producing that much interest on them, that they offered to build my first prototype and two more for the club, with zero cost for me, to have simultaneous prototype tests in Chile as in Germany.
Also another authorities as the President of the
ICSID (Icsid is the International Council of
Societies of Industrial Design) , got interested

on support with reccomendation letters if is

necessary this thesis project, such as some few

congresists, the national technological

development department, Important designers,

etc.

About Me

From pasteboard packaging for mountainbike parts, to full suspension and hardtail mountainbike frames, to the smaller 1st year design school projects, to the Nokia Only Planet workshop, I developed my ambitious ideas using a magical but at the same time logical combination of innovative techniques, constant researching of new trends and technologies, and passion for my profession.
Inspired by the work of the greatest designers who changed a little bit this world making it most interesting, I focus on creating smart and innovative solutions, by researching on the simple and essential things.

Based on that idea and taking full advantage of lessons learnt at design school, plus complementary activities as a labour practice in an architecture office, projects developed for private persons, my master-plan consist in an always upgrading of knowledge by studying and the practice, to maximize creative results, enhance collaborative efforts, and accelerate project turnaround times.Whatever is needed, I will be ready to offer my best for a spectacular job

Norland Cycles. New shift on taylor made Mountainbike Frames

After 2 and Half years studying industrial designing and beeing an enthusisat freerider who look for something different to ride over, something unique that destacate also for it good performance, impressive looking and bombproof strongness, born the idea to produce authentic handmade extreme taylor made mountainbiking frames.
In society with Gustavo Contreras a chilean famous frame welder we design and build, the IMVERMA, the 1st Norland Cycles Hardtail DH frame for some special customer in Norway.
Then with my knowledges I gave some ideas to make Gustav's frames for selling in Chile a bit Better, But the Idea to Create new frames to the Scandinavian and European Market took a long nap, because of my academical duties, and personal events.
During this year I'have developed some new frame Ideas that I would like to share with Bikers, ideas that will give life to the future Norland cycles Projects
